Media Advisory: Court decisions on homeless camps in Oppenheimer Park and Abbotsford

Vancouver, B.C. [September 29]—Pivot Legal Society is holding a press conference today following the B.C. Supreme Court’s delivery of two decisions on homeless camps in Oppenheimer Park and Abbotsford.

Using the law as a catalyst for positive social change, Pivot Legal Society works to improve the lives of marginalized communities.

Pivot Legal Society is representing campers in both cases.

This morning, the court will hear a City of Vancouver injunction aimed at evicting homeless campers from Oppenheimer Park.

In a separate decision, the court will reveal today if a lawsuit against the City of Abbotsford that would recognize access to safe shelter as a basic human right will be heard by the B.C. Supreme Court.
