As a community with specialized knowledge and training in colonial law, we have a moral imperative to actively support the Wet’suwet’en Nation as they assert jurisdiction under their laws to control access to their territory. All 5 clans of the Wet’suwet’en Nation have clearly opposed the pipeline in their territory and they have not provided free, prior, and informed consent to Coastal Gaslink/ TransCanada to do work on Wet’suwet’en lands.
We wrote a letter to our legal colleagues to call for financial contributions to the Unist'ot'en Legal Fund.
