Drug Policy Reform

“We need every tool in the toolkit available.” More treatment options for heroin addiction

By Kevin Hollett Kevin Hollett | Apr 07, 2016 | Blog, Drug Policy Reform

Fighting for evidence-based drug policy

A failed global war on drugs has had a devastating effect on our communities. The criminalization of drug use has led to an epidemic of infectious disease and overdoses, and has needlessly cost countless lives across Canada.. Pivot works with people who use drugs to make changes that will meet their most pressing needs, including timely access to a range of harm reduction, drug substitution, and addiction treatment options in their own communities. We are also working toward a new, evidence-based approach to drug policy that promotes health and human rights.

Pivot Legal Society is located on stolen lands of the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation). We are grateful to Indigenous Peoples for their continuous relationship with their lands and are committed to learning to work in solidarity as accomplices in shifting the colonial default.
