As part of Pivot’s police accountability mandate we have been involved in many complaints filed with the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner (OPCC). We have 3 central recommendations for the Special Committee to Review the Police Complaint Process
Meenakshi is a settler living on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples since 2006. This relationship to the host nations and Indigenous people across so-called Canada demands accountability and interrogations of social justice work and praxis.

Pivot Legal Society fights to abolish mandatory ‘victim fine surcharge’ from Criminal Code at Supreme Court of Canada
The surcharge entrenches marginalized communities in poverty and forces them to make choices that threaten their health and safety. It is a dangerous vestige of the Harper government and must go.
