Operations & Finance Manager
— Emily is a mixed race British/Chinese settler living on the stolen lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Emily holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Birmingham and joins Pivot with a background in operations, finance, and administration in the not-for-profit sector. Before her calling to non-profit work, Emily’s experience ranged from managing office operations at a law firm to running an education institution.
While completing her Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Post Compulsory Education and Training from Birmingham City University, Emily specialized in teaching Law and Feminist Criminological Perspectives to students from marginalized communities who were returning to education to break the cycle of poverty in their families. In her spare time Emily volunteers with Access Pro Bono and Atira’s Legal Advocacy Program, helping self-identified women access legal services in the Downtown Eastside.
Emily believes in using the law as a tool to work towards a just society and is excited to be working with the inspiring and dedicated team at Pivot. Emily’s lived experience with homelessness is why she is passionate about creating a brighter future for the communities that Pivot serves.
