Pivot Legal Society & Vancouver's Downtown Eastside continued...

Issues covered by Pivot include policing, addiction, sex work and housing. Pivot also has an active community program: the Hope in Shadows Downtown Eastside photography contest, which was first held in October 2003.

Ashoka Foundation award

In November 2005 Richardson was inducted into an international fellowship by the Ashoka Foundation, recognizing his vision of strategically using the law to advance the rights of the most marginalized members of society.

Pivot Legal Society has four paid full-time staff and hundreds of volunteers. It has an active board of directors and is financed by donations from the public and from the Pivot Foundation.

New offices

Pivot moved to larger premises to be shared with the new Pivot Legal LLP law firm at 678 East Hastings Street in the Fall of 2006.
