Policy and Law Reform Specialist - Police Accountability
Celia’s passion for social inclusion and justice sparked her interest in gaining an understanding of how the law intersects with society’s most vulnerable people. She attended the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria in 2014, where she focused on civil liberties and police accountability. Celia is currently studying her Master of Laws, focusing on the growing disconnect between the law and justice in the area of police accountability, particularly as it affects citizens who are vulnerable in their relationship with law enforcement by way of race and mental health.
Celia works on Pivot’s police accountability campaign to reform laws, policies, and practices leading to discriminatory or harmful policing practices in Canada. Outside of work and academia, she enjoys gardening, interior design, and adventures with her French Bulldog Olive.
