Rights cards Déclaration pour la police

Pivot has printed more than 100,000 Statement For Police rights cards which have been distributed throughout Canada since early 2002.

The cards, which are purchased in bulk by many organizations across Canada, advise citizens of their legal rights upon arrest, in plain English or French. Telephone numbers for information lines for your province can be put on the back of personalized cards.

The cards fold in two. One half, with the statement for police, can be detached and given to the police upon arrest.

The other half of the card, giving the rights, can be kept. It also lists a 1-866 phone number for legal aid lawyer, and lists the number to report a police officer to the Police Complaint Commission. These numbers are specific for your province, and we regularly print them for Ontario and Quebec, as well as B.C.

If your organization would like to purchase the rights cards with your logo and contact information on the back, please contact us.

Rights cards are printed in two colours, but we can print a third colour on request.

Pivot rights cards   The rights cards, first printed in 2002, are a handy business card size.

The Statement For Police half of the card can be given to the police officer after being read out. It reads:

"Officer, if I am under arrest or being detained, please tell me so.

If I am free to go, please tell me so. If I am not free to go, please tell me why.

I wish to exercise all my legal rights including my right to silence and my right to speak to a lawyer before I say anything to you.

I do not consent to be searched. I wish to be released without delay.

Please do not ask me questions, because I will not willingly talk to you until I speak to a lawyer.

Thank you for respecting my rights."

Prices

Anyone can purchase the rights cards. With your organization's logo: $225 per 1,000 cards. This price has not risen for years and basically covers the cost of printing (the cards have a perforation that separates the information the person hads to the police from the information they keep).

Please provide a high-resolution (300 dpi) logo. Bulk orders of 2,000 or more can result in greater savings, so please ask us for a quotation. Shipping and handling: $15 per 1,000, with savings for larger orders.
