Pivot to host free summer music concert
Vancovuer, July 9 - This summer on August 30th, Pivot Legal Society will be hosting "Justice Rocks," a one-day free concert in East Vancouver’s Strathcona Park.
The first annual musical event will fuse indie rock with themes of justice and equality, featuring an impressive line up featuring local indie musicians Choir Practice, Curtis Santiago, the Furbearing Animals, and others.
“We wanted to find a way to fuse music and ideas for social change,” said John Richardson, executive director of Pivot. “Music has always been a powerful medium for expressing the importance of justice and equality, and we wanted to find a way to make that into a really fun time.”
Justice Rocks will feature a full day of musical programming with displays and activities on the themes of environmental and social justice, highlighting innovative ways to make social change happen.
Justice Rocks will be a family oriented outdoor event and will offer a "Kidz Zone," including a shaded child-oriented rest area, face painting, big bubbles, story-time hosted by children’s librarians from the Vancouver Public Library, crafts and cooperative games for children of all ages.
